For Welin Lambie 2013 was an exceptionally busy year and 2014 has seen that activity continue with the addition of some interesting projects.
Welin Lambie has completed both the factory and ABS Certification of the updated Winch Type HRCW-11.4A under the ABS Rules for Underwater Vehicles, Systems & Hyperbaric Facilities 2014, Section 17.15. Rated with an ABS Design Load of 50,274 lbs (22,800kg) the winch will be integrated into a rig based system to safely launch a hyperbaric chamber that will operate in the Gulf of Mexico.
In meeting the requirements for FOSS and new tug applications the ABS approval testing has been completed on the all electric rescue boat davit. The proven Type: SARBE 8 C is a unique design that allows the vertical davit post and winch to remain stationary during the operation of the system providing 360 degree slew. This utilizes deck space that would not normally be acceptable for the location of a davit and rescue boat. The davits is not only green in color, it is green in nature. The all electric operation eliminates the risk of hydraulic systems leaking on the weather decks, an important factor when operating in the coastal waters of Alaska.
The production of the PIV 3.6 E the all-electric, EMI and shock tested aluminum davit for the LCS Independence variant continues with the factory testing for LCS # 16 ( Hull 705). A total of 7 systems have been delivered. Integrated with the US Navy 7 M RHIB for the confined installation envelope of the LCS platforms the PIV 3.6 E type davit is another example of Welin Lambie engineering and expertise for launch & recovery systems.
The all electric Type: PIV 3.6 E fulfills the requirements of modern combatant ship design of all electric operation and delivers a “green” option to the weather deck environment.
Established in 1901 and trading under Welin Davit & Engineering Co Ltd we continue to innovate and deliver davits systems to both Commercial & Military customers.
